The study
In a globalized world, developments and events in other countries often have an impact beyond national borders and thus acquire international significance. People in Germany are aware of many such international events, such as wars, natural disasters or political changes. They develop their own views and opinions, and such news can also generate concerns and fears. Currently, for example, the Russian war on Ukraine, changes in the national and international economic and financial situation, or the disputes about women's and human rights in countries such as Iran, Afghanistan or Syria as well as international refugee movements from many parts of the world provide occasions for this. Not least, international efforts to combat the climate crisis and the consequences for humanity resulting from the global rise in temperature are also processes that affect and move many people in Germany.
In the MiDInt studies, we want to find out what attitudes and opinions people in Germany have about such international events and where they see reasons for concern or fear. In addition, we are looking into the question of what expectations people in Germany have of politics and decision-makers in Germany in response to such events.
